submarine is directed by Richard Ayoade, set in wales in 1986. oliver and jordana, the duffle coat wearing duo are the epitomy of defiant teenagers … it’s rebellious/romantic/ it’s carefree … beautifully shot, capturing youthful dizziness. all perfectly set alongside to a soundtrack by Alex Turner.
it has a touch of wes anderson about it, and reminds me of the romance between sam and suzy in another one of my favourite films, Moonrise Kingdom. //the innocence of childhood with its occasional eccentricities is explored in both films.
